  1. I liked learning about other peoples lives. Some of them were very eye opening. The greatest thing I got out of it was that sometimes I feel so lost and forgotten in this world, and it was refreshing to see that a lot of people feel the same way.

  2. Listening to everyone papers have been really interesting. The biggest thing I've taken away so far is how much I can relate to my classmates. Even though we may look, act, and seem different, we have many of the same feelings and struggles. I also think this is a good way to confront your own problems in your life instead of just pushing them aside to deal with at a another time.

  3. I thought it was interesting hearing about everyone's stories, but not knowing who it was, so now I am more careful about what I say because I know everyone is going through their own problems. I realized that there are alot of people I can relate to also, which helps trusting the class more.

  5. I agree with Michelle and Kyle: there are a lot of "If You Really Knew Me"s that are extremely relatable. The best part about hearing the papers read in class is that you can indirectly find another person--without ever really knowing who they are--who you can connect with and share common interests with. In terms of impact, there isn't a way to actually properly word the feeling of learning about others' lives, including their dreams, troubles, and passions. I think that it is fair to say that "If You Really Knew Me" consistantly throws us for a loop.

  6. People always think that they are the only ones who struggle and have difficulties, but through this activity, I learned that everyone has their own struggles and my problems is nothing compared to theirs.

  7. I really appreciate how some people can be so open with the class about their lives. I think it's really awesome also when the person admits to writing it. I can definitely relate to a lot of these ones being read out loud and that makes me feel a lot better because I know someone else is going through it.

  8. I think it's realy cool that some people can be so open with our class. I mean I don't really know everyone in class and I wouls be scared to share really personal things like that but it is really cool and very brave.

  9. I don't really like to share details about my life because I enjoy being mysterious, so it was a new experience to be so open like that. I normally enjoy listening to other people's problems, but I never realized how problematic some people's lives are.

  10. I was really shocked when I heard some of the stories. I can't believe all the terrible things were happening to my classmates, since everybody looks really cheerful at the outside. Listen to others stories makes me feel that I am not the only one that are facing tough situation. Everybody has his/her own problem, people just don't have the chance to share it. This is a nice experience, I really enjoy it!

  11. It was surprising to hear so many difficult situations that people face around me. Mine wasn't read yet, but after listening to each one individual essays, I could see that people keep these deep memories as they interact with others. They seem to want sympathy in my eyes.

  12. It was reasurring to hear that I'm not the only one going through troubles in school and home. Everyone sees so happy and stress free but in reality, we've come to ball it up deep inside. I think we can take this activity and use it outside if gym class by not judging at a first glance because you don't know what they're going through.

  13. I really liked listening to what everyone had to say. I feel like I could connect with all of them because sometimes I was wondering if I was the one that wrote them! It's nice knowing that most of us have the same problems or something we"re not happy with. I often found myself saying "that's how I am!" when Mr.H was reading the if you really knew me's.

  14. Sorry this is so late, but I really enjoyed hearing these papers read because it helps everyone learn you have something in common with a great deal of people in the class. I also liked hearing mine read for this reason. I have a lot more in common with people than I ever could have imagined. I think this activity is a great way for people to learn to be completely honest even if it hurts them to do so, or if they're scared. I think this activity also tests the trust we have for each other that we won't tell anyone about the papers. This is just a really great activity and I think you should continue it in the future.

  16. Im actually so glad were doing these if you really knew me papers! it's so awesome how they've brought us more together even if we don't actually know who wrote the paper ifs jus nice knowing you're not alone dealing with these emotions and situations. I just wish I had known how meaningful some of these papers were! I would have gone a lot deeper with mine.

  17. I really like this assignment. I can relate to pretty much every story I've heard and it breaks my heart knowing that some people have to go through the same things I've had to been through and it's reay rough. No one at this age should be going through times as hard as I've heard.
